Today, we’re proud to introduce our new, beautiful order confirmation emails. Place your order today to see how yours looks 🙂
Since the website was launched way back in 2003 we have always sent plain text emails, which don’t look particularly good but solve an important issue; deliverability.
For a transactional email that we send to you to actually reach you it has to pass through up to two spam filters. First, there’s your ISP’s (or webmail provider’s) spam filter. These are generally kind enough to let our mails reach you, with the exception of one (MS) who tend to spam many genuine emails.
The potential second spam filter only applies if you’re using an email client (which won’t apply if you use webmail). Your email client will try to play it’s part and can on occasion mark our genuine emails as spam.
So What’s Changed?
We have recently started using an Email Service Provider (ESP) to deliver our emails. The one we chose was Mandrill. These guys work tirelessly to ensure that emails sent through them are genuinely wanted (as ours are) and further, that ISPs don’t mark emails sent through them as spam.
Since we’ve started using them our email deliverability has increased massively. Even the webmail provider mentioned above who don’t usually play ball appear to be letting their users receive our emails.
Due to the increased deliverability we are now able to send more artistic content which according to feedback improves your buying experience.
